Braised Sirloin Tips

Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
 |
2 pounds sirloin tips, cut into 1-inch cubes |
 |
1/2 small onion, minced |
 |
1 (10-ounce) can beef broth |
 |
1/3 cup red wine or cranberry juice cocktail |
 |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
 |
1 clove garlic, chopped |
 |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
 |
1/4 cup water |
 |
6 cups hot cooked rice |
 |
Serves 6 |
Step 1
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add
beef and onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 10
minutes.
Step 2
Add broth, wine, soy sauce and garlic to skillet. Bring to
a boil.
Step 3
Reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer until beef is tender,
about 15 minutes.
Step 4
Combine cornstarch and water in a measuring cup. Stir into
skillet. Cook, stirring, until mixture boils and thickens, about 1 minute.
Serve over rice.
